Local WordPress Development

When it comes to WordPress, sometimes I just want to experiment with an idea without creating a database and deploying an installation on my server. On days like that, MAMP comes in pretty handy. I will typically download WordPress and unzip it into a local folder on my hard drive, fire up MAMP, and point it to the local folder. That’s it. WordPress will then let you run through the installation process and MAMP stores the database. If later on down the road I would actually want to deploy the project to my server, I’ll use the Duplicator Pro plugin to duplicate the project to a zip folder and use that to deploy the project over the internets!
